Getting Over a Breakup.....

Break ups are never easy, no matter how old you get. They leave you heartbroken and endlessly sad. In the moment, it feels like the pain will never go away and you’ll never be able to find love again. All of these feelings and emotions are natural because you begin to grieve the relationship.

You shared a life with a person, you have so many happy memories with them, and when that is taken away, you find yourself in a state of grief that you can’t seem to snap yourself out of. It can also affect your mental health negatively and put you at the risk of depression if you don’t do something about it.

In this article, we will try to help you get over your heartbreak by sharing a few tips. Keep reading below to learn more!

End All Contact

The first and most important thing that you need to do in order to get over a breakup quickly is to end all contact. Breathe deeply, and block your ex’s contact in your phone. Then, go a step further and block them on all your social media accounts. Yes! Even Facebook & Instagram!! The sooner you detach them from your life and end all means of contact, the better off you would be in the long run.

You might start thinking about making them feel jealous or hoping they would come crawling back to you. Just stop yourself right there. You absolutely cannot entertain such thoughts if you want to get over the breakup.

Delete All Pictures and Souvenirs

The next thing you need to do is delete all pictures from your phone. Yes, even the ones where both of you are looking super cute being silly. You need to erase them so you don’t have anything that makes you feel nostalgic. You can’t let yourself have a moment of weakness when it comes to this. Discard any gifts or items that have any memories of them attached.

Cry Your Eyes Out

It is very important to let yourself feel your sadness and grief instead of just suppressing your emotions. Cry as much as you need, so you can pick yourself up after and move on. Crying is not a sign of weakness and you do need to grieve before you can move on. That is the only sustainable and healthy way of getting over a breakup.

Speak to a Mental Health Professional

Talking to a mental health expert is always a great idea when you’re going through heartbreak. They can help you express and channel your emotions in the healthiest way. Plus, you can rant to them all about the breakup without feeling like you’re burdening them, as could be the case while ranting to your friends / family.

The above-mentioned tips are few of the strategies to help you cope with a heart break.

Don’t be too harsh on yourself, allow yourself to feel all your feelings, be kind to
yourself, and give yourself the time you need to grieve. You may not be okay now, but have faith in the knowledge that, this too shall pass...
